Production log 7

What have you contributed this week?
I think that this week has gone well as we have finished our music video and we had finished it on schedule. All we had to do was add in some finishing touches to the music video and make sure that all the shots were in the right place and that it cuts to the beat. Afterwards when we were sure that the music video was finished to its highest standards, we uploaded it to YouTube. I am happy on how the music video turned out.

How does this fit in to your production schedule/job roles/overall ideas of the project?
We have stayed on schedule because we have finished the music video on time and we and we have added some effects such as fade in on the music video. I think the overall music video is good as we tried hard to finish it and we also had to face some problems during filming.

Were there any problems?
There were no problems this week because we tried our best to get the music video finished, we have done that by staying back after school until we had done a good amount.

What are your plans for the following week?
The plans for the following week are to complete past work that we have missed out and also to finish everything and to make sure that we are up to scratch.

Jobs roles and responsibilities

the role that i would take part in during the production of the music video will be the cameraman.

i will have to make sure that:
  •  i get all the right shots
  •  there are no mistakes in the shots
  •  all the casts are in the right position
  •  i get more shots because it would help in editing
  •  keep the group focused
i will be the most suitable to be the cameraman i know my way around the camera and also i can easily get a shot filmed. as the group and myself are working together, i can picture the shots and what is happening in each shot. we all have a clear idea of what we want out and what the storyline is and this is good as we will not have to waste time and explain what is happening in every shot. i would make a good role of making sure that all the shots are taken correctly, if there would be a problem during filming, i would be able to make a way around it so we all could stay on schedule. to get good shots in a low budget, i will have to be creative and work with what i have so i will make sure that i use everything we have as an advantage to make the shots better.

Production log week 6

What have you contributed this week?
This week we have finished a draft of the music video that was done by Thursday and we got feedback from other groups and the teacher saying what was good about the music video and what could be improved/re-filmed. Luckily we do not have to re-film a lot but we might improve some areas of the music video if we have the time to.

How does this fit in to your production schedule/job roles/overall ideas of the project?

We have finished a draft of the music idea by the deadline which means that we are on schedule but we have to make sure that next week is also good like this week.

Were there any problems?
Most of our cast are busy next week so there might be a problem when we have to film. However, we will make sure that we can make a day where everyone is free and can re-film the shots that didn’t turn out to be good. As we were looking at the music video, we also realised that not a lot of our shots was cut to the beat so we also have to make sure that we would fix that by next week.

What are your plans for the following week?
The plans for next week are to re-film the shots that are not good and that needs to be re-shot. We also have to make sure that all the editing is finished and that there are no mistakes, by doing this, we will stay after school until we have done a majority of editing each day so that we are sure to finish the music video by the deadline.

Production log week 5

What have you contributed this week?
This week I have been editing on Final cut pro on the IMac and we have got half of the music video done this week. The draft deadline for the full music video is on the 14th of March and to make sure we will be done by the time, we will have to say back in our frees or after school to make sure that the music video is fully completed and there are no errors. Cut to the beat is vital for a music video and I have been making sure that most of the footage cuts to the beat at the same time as the music.

How does this fit in to your production schedule/job roles/overall ideas of the project?
As we were going through the footage, we have seen some parts that we need to re-shoot but now we know where we have gone wrong and what we could improve on. we have done half of the music video but not all of the shots are cut to the beat and the deadline in approaching, to avoid being late for deadline, we have to stay back after school or during our frees to make sure that we finish the music video before the deadline.

Were there any problems?
There were not a lot of problems this week because it is editing however found a couple of footage that we need to re-shoot and also we need to stay behind so that we would finish our music video before the deadline and also because doing cut to the beat takes some time because we need to find the beat of the song and make it in tune with the shot.

What are your plans for the following week?
Our plans for next week is to put in all the footage together to make a draft of the music video by the 14th of March and by doing that we would have to stay back after school to make sure we finish the music video. We would also try to re-shoot some of the footage that was not shot well.

Production log week 4

What have you contributed this week?
This week we have finished the Last of our filming which were a scene in the park and also a scene on the stairs. we also have imported half of our footage on the mac however, a problem occurred on iMovie so then we have learnt how to use final cut  pro which seems to be much easier.

How does this fit in to your production schedule/job roles/overall ideas of the project?
We had to make little changes to the schedule because some of the actors was not free at the time but this week we have finished filming what we wasn’t able to film. We have also filmed more than we thought which is good as we could improve the film is some of the shots is not as good. This week has been good as we have stayed on schedule and had no delays.

Were there any problems?
This week we did not have any problems which is great because it means that everything is going well with no doubts or issues. However, after filming, we imported the footage to the mac but the footage was saved in another format which was strange but it was solved on the day after and had all the footage imported.

What are your plans for the following week?
The plan for next week is to start editing the footage and bring it all together to make a video. however is there are any bad shots, we would need to re-shoot the shot and try to not make any mistakes.

Production Log week 3

What have you contributed this week?
This week I had contributed in filming the music video as I was the cameraman. I had to take in consideration what camera shot I had to use however I had the shooting script which helped.
How does this fit in with the production schedule/ job roles/ overall ideas of the project?
We started filming scenes of the music video when the girlfriend and her friends are having fun and goes out. We have also filmed the boyfriend’s point of the scene. we have got some of the filming done but I think that we have not got the most shots that we could get.

Were there any problems? How did you/ will you overcome them?
During filming, the weather was extremely cold which cause the cast and crew to shiver but we kept focused and cog the shots filmed. There were also some problems with timing but we were able to finish filming before the day ended.

What are your plans for the following week?
my plans for next week is to finish filming the music video and get all the shots done by the end of the week so that we could move on to editing so that we could see if we have missed any shots and see if me may need to re-shoot

Production log week 2

What have you contributed this week?
This week i have contributed in sending emails to ask permission if we could film. However, the permission was denied and so then we had to for other places to film, I also send photos of where we would film to let them know in advance of where we would film. I have also helped the group by doing my part of finishing the work witch was the location reccies and also the risk assessments for the park, my room and Westfield. I have also finished my part of the shooting script and now we are clearer on what we would do in each shot and the script gives us an image of how the video will look like.

How does this fit in with the production schedule/ job roles/ overall ideas of the project?
This means that we are up to date with the work and we all have done the shooting script which is important as it gives us an idea of what the video would be like but also is like a plan because it has a beginning, middle and end. My section of the video was the middle and the shooting script made it clear on how I want it to be. my role is being the cameraman and I had to sort out what each shot of the shooting script would be, I had to think carefully because there had to be a lot of close ups and movement.

Were there any problems? How did you/ will you overcome them?
We had problems on making the shooting script because here had to be a lot of camera movement but it also had to flow.so we thought of possible camera angle, pan and shot type that we could use in each shot. We also had to add in more close ups so every time there are there are emotions in the video, we added in close ups.

What are your plans for the following week?
My plans for next week are to start filming the music video and hopefully stay on schedule and also to film correctly so without any problems so that we do not have to r film afterwards.
